A good friend treated me to a foot massage at the new Hollister Foot Massage Spa today and I was blown away. I’d heard good things about the new business in town and since the massage is my favorite part of a pedicure I knew I would enjoy the one hour experience. The cost of only $25.00 for undivided attention to my feet for sixty minutes seemed almost too good to be true. What I got was a fabulous experience that well surpassed my expectations.
We entered the dimly lit room and about six twin-size futon looking lounge chairs adorned with large pillows stretched out against the length of the wall. Soft music of flutes and harps drifted out of invisible speakers and just entering the room caused my heart rate to slow down and my blood pressure to decrease. “This is amazing,” I told my benefactor Kathleen.
The wonderful couple that doubled as our hosts and masseurs instructed us to sit down and relax. Large plastic lined wicker baskets filled with warm water were placed at the foot of our lounges and we were instructed to put our feet in them. Then the lounges were reclined and the pillows were used for back and head support and the wonder massage began. I was surprised that it started with a scrumptious scalp and head massage; I thought this was going to be a foot massage. Then the talented lady whose name I forgot to get because I was rummy when I left, worked away at my arms. When she got to my feet and legs I was already like loosened up and as she worked away at my pressure points I felt like I’d died and gone to heaven.
When she asked me to sit up I thought, “Oh darn that hour flew by,” but then she pulled a head rest out from the back of the lounge and asked me to roll over. “This is a foot massage?” I kept pondering. She then used her whole arm and body weight to rub the knots out of my back and shoulders. After rubbing down my entire body she let me know that we were done and I have to tell you I could never have imagined having such a wonderful massage with all my clothes on. At $25.00 it was an absolute steal. Kathleen would not let me leave a tip but she took very good care of both of our masseurs.
We both walked out into the sun feeling almost intoxicated from the tranquilizing experience. As a business owner in Hollister I like to support our local establishments and this one gets a huge thumbs up from me. I will be back soon and look forward to treating friends for their birthdays. I can’t imagine a better gift. Hollister Foot Massage Spa is located at 321 San Felipe Rd. Suite 11; behind Miyako’s Japanese Restaurant another one of my favorite Hollister businesses.
