The 1997 rally started it all.

The blessings are many and things are really heating up at Johnny’s. The rally’s hot on our heals and there’s so much going on it’s hard to share it all in one post.

Before I get into what is happening I need to talk about what is not happening. For the first time in 75 years there will not be a Rodeo Parade. There is a lot of finger pointing going on and I don’t care who’s to blame. Someone dropped the ball. How does an event that would be celebrating its 75th year of tradition get shelved? It’s complete insanity! The powers that be, I won’t mention any names, are like the darn Democrats and Republicans. They couldn’t come together and combine resources for the good of the people. Someone should have seen to it that the Saddle Horse Show Parade was kept alive. Kind of reminds me of rally issues. But I digress; Johnny’s can’t stand idly by while tradition goes down the tubes. It’s just not our style.

So we’re having a non-parade party Johnny’s style. We’re building stick horses on Wednesday night during our bingo games for our own races. The party starts at 6:15 on Thursday June 22nd, when the parade would normally have taken place. We’ll go live on Facebook with the race. Don’t be surprised if you see some Clampers. They were always a big part of the Saddle Horseshow Parade. The winners will receive Johnny’s gift packages. Bonus! The first twelve ladies to show up in Daisy Dukes will receive a free cowgirl hat. If you whipper snappers don’t know what Daisy Dukes are click here. For those twelve, if you are wearing cowboy boots with them your first drink is only $1.00. Crown Royal is $1.00 off and you can keep the boot shot glass while they last. Karaoke starts at 9:00 as usual. It’s another tradition. Come on down for some Boot Scooting Boogying.

On Tuesday June 27th at 11:00 a.m. the Spanish Reality Show Gipsy Kings will be filming a show at Johnny’s. In it’s fourth season, with an average of over 2 million viewers, La Compentencia TV, produces the show in Spain. It is seen in 20 different Spanish speaking countries, including the United States, and is aired in different languages and accents. The shows glamorous and successful characters, Noemi and Raquel Salazar (mother and daughter) will be on holiday in San Francisco and Los Angeles and are filming the trip for the show.

Gipsy Kings

The producers like Johnny’s and our activities and asked to be filmed having drinks and food and asking questions about Johnny’s history. They’d really like to have some bikers in the show so if you’d like moment in an International spotlight please come on down. It could be tough getting riders at 11:00 a.m. on a Tuesday but it’s the time slot they have on their drive from San Francisco to LA. I’m sure we can have at least six bikes there for these folks, can’t we?

On Wednesday June 28th at 5:00 we’re announcing the winner of the $600.00 Corbin gift certificate drawing. We’ll be on Facebook Live. If you haven’t entered yet be sure to do it now. Please share the post to increase your chances because your name will be added again when you do.

Thursday the 28th is Johnny’s rally kickoff party. JJ will be rocking the place with karaoke and dancing tunes. He always puts on a great show.

Johnny’s will open for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. Friday and we’re rocking and rolling from there. We’re serving our fabulous breakfast buffet from 8:00 – 11:00 during the entire rally. Our famous BBQ will be served from 10:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. or until the peeps stop ordering food.

The rally roster is loaded. As well as having celebrity host Eric Estrada on Friday, stunt man Monte Perlin will perform stunts at breakneck speeds daily in the Globe of Death . Mike Corbin’s International Bike Builders Association sanctioned bike show will take place on Saturday, July 1st on the corner of Monterey and 5th Street. Tripp Productions will present the Vatos Y Viclas Bike Show and three day block party. It will feature radical builds, big wheel baggers and old school, vintage and fat tire choppers as well as music and themed vendors. And don’t forget the Slow Bike Races. It’s a long standing rally tradition and Johnny’s is honored to be a cosponsor.

The entertainment lineup is too long to mention with great bands playing all three days. Johnny’s is proud to cosponsor the Charlie Bretchel Band as headliner on the main stage on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. An all time favorite at biker rallies, Good Time Charlie pays homage to the biker lifestyle like no other performer ever has. During the show he’s giving away two tickets to the legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis South Dakota worth $400.00. What a way to celebrate a fabulous weekend.

We’re in for a treat!

After Charlie Bretchel the rocking good times continue at Johnny’s with JJ Hawg who will be playing at 5:00. JJ has been rocking Johnny’s with his DJ and karaoke music for years but this is his bands first appearance. We are looking forward to a really good time.

We’re all going to be whooped before it’s over. However, the party will continue at Johnny’s after rally goers ride off into the sunset. We’re open our normal hours on Monday and Tuesday July 4th. We’ll be having our ever-popular safe and sane fireworks show at dusk on Independence Day. It’s always a family affair and lots of fun.

I’m exhausted just writing about all of this. On July 5th I may need to lie down for a few days. We look forward to seeing you all for this 70th Anniversary Hollister Independence Rally. Ride safe and God bless, The Johnny’s family
