What are they thinking?

What were they thinking?

The theft was picked up on four of our sixteen cameras. Last Friday night some disrespectful people walked right out of the front door of Johnny’s with our fan. It is two and half feet in diameter and bright orange in color. It’s an understatement to say that it is as big as life and easily distinguished. I’m not posting the picture of it going out of the front door in deference to one of the culprits. She not only brought our fan back, but she apologized profusely and was truly remorseful. The man who carried the fan out has yet to apologize and is, needless to say, 86ed for life. It was a drunken prank, but not one that would be considered by someone with a reasonable amount of moral fiber. The man who refuses to apologize despite the fact that I didn’t have him arrested lacks backbone too.

We are more than blessed with many wonderful customers at Johnny’s. However, I wish there weren’t so many irresponsible and amoral people in the world today. Hence the “Warning: These people don’t know how to act.” Young women, who gang up on, and jump other women on my patio, or anywhere in my establishment for that matter, can consider themselves 86ed too. We don’t tolerate bad behavior at Johnny’s. I refuse to have the actions of a few punks ruin the evening for the many really nice people that come out to have a good time. I do not intend to lose my good customers because of a few bad ones. Hear me now, disrespectful trouble makers; I don’t give a rip how much money you spend in my establishment. If you don’t know how to act, we don’t want your money. You are not welcome in our bar and grill.

I hate having to write such a negative post, but I’ve heard about and witnessed via my DVR, way too much bad behavior. Johnny’s has always been a fun and friendly place. Ladies have always felt comfortable visiting, even without an escort, and I plan on keeping it that way. I seriously considered creating a wall of shame with pictures. My husband and my son think that would be a little over the top so I will heed their advice, for now. The staff will have photos of those that are 86ed and at this juncture, that album is growing. So please, if you want to be a punk, or thief, or rude, or do drugs, take it somewhere else.

On a more positive note, business is booming and we so appreciate all of our wonderful patrons. We are blessed to have many people that are more like family and friends than customers. I’ve always said that we are the Cheers of Hollister. Some of you young folks may not remember the show. If you check out the reruns you’ll see the similarities. We’ve got our Norms and our Cliff Clavens, and a lot of the time it is place where everybody knows your name.

Although alike in many ways, Cheers did not have a restaurant. We have a great restaurant, and our burgers and steaks are renowned. The restaurant had been closed on Sundays but we recently opened for breakfast and lunch from 10:00 – 3:00 and it has been a huge success. Christian’s breakfast specials, like pancakes laced with bacon and chocolate chips and strawberry French toast, are getting rave reviews. We serve all of our standard favorites like chicken fried steak and eggs with country gravy and omelets too. After a Saturday night out on the town who wouldn’t want to have one of our famous Bloody Marys garnished with a thick slice of homemade peppered bacon, along with their breakfast? And now it’s football season. Go 49ers! We have five televisions and happy hour prices on all beers to add to the mix. It can only get better.

A huge thank you goes out to all of you wonderful people who have made Johnny’s your favorite place to eat and drink. I also want to send a shout out to all of the Clampers that have made Johnny’s your watering hole. You guys are great and you are appreciated.
God bless, Cat

Clampers love Johnny's and Johnny's loves Clampers.

A side note – We will temporarily be closing the kitchen on Mondays and opening the bar at 11:30 a.m. We are currently looking for a back-up cook to help Christian and take over Mondays. If you know of a good cook send him or her our way.
